Why I stopped trying to quit smoking – Omah Lay

Nigerian Afrobeats artist Omah Lay, whose real name is Omah Stanley Didia, has spoken candidly about his struggles with smoking in a recent podcast interview with DJ Dan.

In the discussion, Omah Lay acknowledged that he has attempted to quit smoking multiple times but continues to grapple with the habit. He articulated a sense of acceptance regarding his smoking, suggesting that he believes death is inevitable, regardless of lifestyle choices.

“I love smoking a lot. I tried to stop, I forced myself, but I can’t,” Omah Lay said. He emphasized that, rather than continuing to struggle against the habit, he wants to find peace in his choices.

The artist also mentioned that smoking offers him a sense of “artificial happiness” and a feeling of rebellion, particularly since marijuana is illegal in Nigeria. “We are all going to die one day. So what’s the essence of forcing myself to stop smoking?” he added.

Omah Lay concluded by expressing his desire to enjoy life fully, stating, “This is my life. I will just live it. I will enjoy every single thing that I have.”
