Police Conduct Raids in Yola, Arrest 29 Suspects for Drug-related Activities
YOLA, Adamawa State — A series of police raids on suspected criminal hotspots in and around Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, have resulted in the arrest of 29 individuals, according to law enforcement officials.
The operations were executed by the Yola Area Police Command under the leadership of Area Commander ACP Grace Sanda. The action followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, who instructed Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) throughout the state to address locations associated with criminal activity.
A statement from the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, detailed the seizure of various illicit substances during the raids. Among the items recovered were dry leaves believed to be Indian hemp, tramadol capsules, and packaged substances suspected to be illegal drugs. Authorities also confiscated paraphernalia such as pipes, lighters, and bottles linked to drug consumption and distribution.
“The 29 suspects are currently in police custody as investigators work to establish their individual roles and identify additional individuals potentially involved in the activities uncovered during the raids,” Nguroje stated.
The police operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and associated crimes in the region.
