Four Almajiri Students Die After Suspected Food Poisoning in Kano
KANO, Nigeria — Four Quranic students, known as Almajiri, have reportedly died after consuming contaminated food in the Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano.
The students attended Malam Iliyasu Mai Tsangaya in Kadage Sharifai. According to a statement released by Alaramma Sani Musa Nuhu, the National Chairman of the Tsangaya Media Network, the students were taken to Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for medical treatment following a suspected case of food poisoning.
Nuhu stated that the students succumbed to their condition and passed away at the hospital on Sunday night, August 16. The statement did not specify the type of food consumed or the substance believed to be responsible for the poisoning, leaving the details surrounding the incident unclear.
Following the necessary approvals from both the District Head (Dagaci) and the local police officer, the remains of the deceased were buried.
As of now, police officials have not released any statements regarding the circumstances of the incident.
