2027: NDC unveils Ogah as Abia guber candidate, vows to replicate ‘Osun template’

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially announced its governorship candidate for Abia State, Etugo Ogah, along with his running mate, Dozie Alaribe. The unveiling took place on Wednesday in Umuahia during a ceremony where party flags were presented to the candidates.

Akoh Atuloma, the NDC Chairman in Abia, emphasized the party’s commitment to leveraging community support to secure victory in the upcoming elections, drawing parallels to recent electoral success in Osun State.

“The presentation of our candidates is essential to ensure transparency and prevent any impersonation among our members and the electorate,” Atuloma stated. He urged voters in Abia to take inspiration from the people of Osun, who he claimed successfully safeguarded their votes in the August 15 gubernatorial election despite attempts to manipulate the outcome.

Atuloma encouraged voters to resist bribery and remain steadfast during the 2027 elections. “What happened in Osun reflects the resilience voters can show. We must remain united against vote-buying in Abia and across the nation as we approach the elections,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, Ogah pledged to make reconciliation with all aggrieved party aspirants a priority to position the NDC for electoral success. He expressed confidence that a coalition among key political figures, referring to the “Obi-Kwankwaso tsunami,” would propel the NDC to victory in Abia in 2027.
