Osun election: Davido banned from performing in Edo over exchange with Okpebholo

Afrobeat musician Davido faces a ban from performing in Edo State following a public dispute with Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The conflict arose during discussions surrounding the recent gubernatorial election in Osun State. Okpebholo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), criticized Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke’s leadership while campaigning for his party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji. He suggested that Adeleke’s focus on dance was detracting from his governance responsibilities.
In a response to Okpebholo’s remarks, Davido took to Instagram to mock the governor, posting a screenshot of Okpebholo’s West African Examination Council (WAEC) results.
After Adeleke’s electoral win, Davido confirmed in an interview with News Central that he would not apologize to Okpebholo. He stated that the governor had no right to criticize a sitting governor who, in his view, is performing better.
In an open letter shared on Instagram, Davido further challenged Okpebholo, indicating that he should be prepared for future interactions.
