ICPC begins inspection of N2.06bn constituency projects in Bauchi

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has initiated an inspection of constituency projects in Bauchi State, totaling over N2.06 billion, as part of efforts to prevent the misuse of public funds.
The inspection covers 29 projects, with a combined value of N2,062,155,613.98, under the commission’s Constituency Projects Tracking Group.
Started on August 17, 2026, the monitoring exercise involves officials from the ICPC headquarters in Abuja and its local office in Bauchi. The team’s objective is to evaluate whether the projects funded through constituency allocations are being implemented according to established specifications, as well as to ensure that the released funds correspond with the actual work completed at various sites.
Assistant Chief Superintendent Mohammed Abdullahi Tanko, who leads the team, emphasized that the initiative is part of a nationwide effort aimed at enhancing accountability in the management of government-funded projects.
Tanko noted that the ICPC is particularly focused on projects that have received public funding but are poorly executed, abandoned, or remain incomplete.
