Adeife faces backlash after claiming young women lack ambition

Media personality Adeife Adeoye has ignited a contentious discussion on social media following her remarks about the ambitions of young women. In a widely circulated video, Adeoye claimed that an increasing number of young women are prioritizing marriage and careers in beauty-related fields, such as lash technicians and masseuses, over more traditional professional paths.

The comments attracted a flurry of responses across various social media platforms, with many users accusing Adeoye of undermining legitimate businesses that have provided financial independence for numerous women.

Among those criticizing her perspective was social media commentator Chief Isiego, who responded to Adeoye’s statements by questioning her career choices. “Very rich coming from someone whose major decision after putting on her thinking cap was getting a BBL,” Isiego wrote, alluding to Adeoye’s public persona.

Isiego further suggested that Adeoye’s relevance in the media was rooted in her own career in content creation, challenging her to reconsider her views on other career paths. Other users joined the debate, with one user on X, identified as @datblackwoman, asserting, “Being a lash tech or massage therapist is still a business. Not everyone wants a corporate career, and that doesn’t make them less ambitious.” Another user, @MorenikeJi, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Success is not one-size-fits-all.
