Police recover beheaded corpse in Jigawa

Body of Severed Man Discovered in Jigawa State
MAIGATARI, Jigawa State — Authorities have recovered the body of an unidentified man whose head was severed, prompting concern within the local community. The corpse was located along the Maigatari-Gumel road on Saturday, according to a resident who reported the finding to DAILY POST.
The resident noted that the deceased was found without a head, leading to fears that the man may have been a victim of ritualistic murder. No identification documents or other means of establishing the man’s identity were discovered with the remains.
Police spokesman SP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident in a statement issued to journalists. He stated that law enforcement received a report about the unidentified body and promptly dispatched officers to the scene, where they confirmed the body had been decapitated.
Following the initial investigation, the body was transported to a nearby village, where funeral prayers were conducted shortly after, due to signs of decomposition. In a further development, the severed head was later located inside a container in the vicinity.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death, as authorities work to address the community’s concerns.
