2027: There’ll be fake polling units, booths stationed for rigging – Primate Ayodele warns

Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, raised concerns on Sunday regarding the potential for fraudulent polling units in Nigeria’s 2027 elections. In a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele cautioned that these deceptive establishments could be set up across the country, potentially misleading voters and impacting the electoral process.
He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain vigilant against such developments, warning of significant negative repercussions if these issues are not adequately addressed.
Ayodele claimed that plans for election manipulation are already in motion, including the establishment of fake polling stations and the distribution of counterfeit electoral materials. “I am seeing a lot of fake elements concerning the upcoming election, which INEC must take seriously,” he stated. “These fake polling units and booths aim to undermine the votes of specific individuals and facilitate rigging.”
He called on INEC to enhance its efforts to inform the electorate about these potential threats. “Let the commission work diligently in this area; otherwise, these fraudulent practices could be successful,” he added.
Additionally, Ayodele characterized the forthcoming presidential election as a challenging event, suggesting that INEC has not demonstrated adequate preparedness. He urged the commission’s chairman to ensure the integrity of the election process, warning of personal consequences if compliance with these standards is not achieved.
“INEC has not shown readiness for this upcoming election. They may not be aware of the challenges ahead,” he said. “I urge the chairman to put his house in order and deliver a credible election. Failure to do so will lead to repercussions, as the election will be markedly more difficult than previous ones.”
