‘Out of therapy but not healed’ – Nigerian TikToker, Mirabel returns months after false rape claim

TikToker Nsikak Abigail Returns to Social Media After Controversy
Months after being placed in rehabilitation by the Ogun State Government, social media influencer Nsikak Abigail, popularly known as Mirabel, has made her return to TikTok with a series of posts that express both resilience and ongoing struggles.
Mirabel resurfaced online on Saturday with four videos, her first since February, during which she made a false allegation of rape that garnered widespread attention. In her posts, she addressed her critics directly, stating, “I survived, so I’m awaiting your hate comments.”
In a subsequent video, she acknowledged the lingering impact of her situation, remarking, “Out of therapy but not healed.” In another, she expressed discontent towards the assistance she received, saying, “Made peace with my mental health since rehab couldn’t help. Hi y’all.” Her final post included a contentious comment: “We all make mistakes, but not a bisexual.”
Mirabel’s recent return follows her report to Ogijo Police Station in Sagamu, where she claimed she was raped on February 15, 2026, after responding to a knock from a person she described as a neighbor. The allegations sparked significant public outrage but were subsequently found to be unfounded following police investigation. Authorities reported no evidence to substantiate her claims.
In June, Oluwasina Ogungbade, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Ogun State, announced that investigations revealed Mirabel’s rape allegation was false and deliberately constructed. The statement from the Ministry of Justice clarified that no criminal offense had occurred, which precluded the possibility of arrest or prosecution.
The government opted for rehabilitation rather than legal action, and Mirabel is currently receiving support from the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
Despite her return to social media, Mirabel continues to contend with mental health challenges. Her recent activity has reignited discussions online, with some observers calling for reimbursement of donations made during the initial outcry, while others advocate for her second chance. Many argue, however, that she should be held accountable for misusing public resources and the potential harm caused to actual victims of sexual assault.
