Bauchi Police Arrest Suspect in Stabbing Death
Bauchi State Police have apprehended a suspect identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, also known as “Dan Iya,” in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man, Moh’d Musa, in the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis.
The incident reportedly took place at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, following a confrontation between Abdullahi and Musa. According to a statement from Police Spokesman SP Nafiu Habib, the altercation escalated when Abdullahi allegedly produced a knife and stabbed Musa.
Musa was subsequently transported to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Police operatives from the ‘A’ Division, Township, responded to the scene and arrested Abdullahi. They also recovered the knife believed to be used in the attack as evidence.
The victim’s body has been taken to the hospital mortuary for an autopsy, while Abdullahi remains in police custody. The case will be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and potential prosecution.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has instructed detectives to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the incident, emphasizing the importance of delivering justice. He also urged Bauchi residents to refrain from violent behavior and to report any suspicious activities to their nearest police station.
