Ballon d’Or 2026: ‘He had a tremendous season’ – Roy Makaay names player to win award
Roy Makaay, a former forward for Bayern Munich, has expressed his belief that England captain Harry Kane is a frontrunner for the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Makaay praised Kane’s outstanding performance last season, during which he scored 61 goals in 51 matches for Bayern Munich and netted six times for the English national team during the FIFA World Cup.
“If Harry Kane wins it, he deserves it, because the season he had was tremendous,” Makaay told Bulinews.
He noted that while the Ballon d’Or often reflects subjective preferences, Kane is among the leading candidates for the prestigious award.
“I would love for him to win it, but we will have to see in October,” Makaay added.
