Friendly: Sand Eagles stumble again against Senegal

Nigeria’s Sand Eagles suffered a second consecutive defeat against Senegal, losing 6-4 in a friendly beach soccer match held at the Murtala Muhammed Square Beach Soccer Pitch in Kaduna on Monday.

The loss mirrored Senegal’s 6-4 victory over Nigeria in the first friendly match, which took place at the same venue just three days earlier.

Hassan Abdullahi, who netted all four goals for Nigeria in the opening game, contributed once again in the latest match. He was joined on the scoresheet by teammates Hamza Manga, Sodiq Umar, and Hassan Abubakar.

Senegal’s scoring was highlighted by Man of the Match Oussaynou Faye, along with goals from Libasse Mbaye, Mamadou Sylla, Assane Ba, and Mandione Laye Diagne. Nigeria’s Godspower Igudia also inadvertently added an own goal to the team’s tally.

These matches serve as part of Nigeria’s preparation for the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) qualifying tie against Ghana later this month.

The first leg is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, in Kaduna, followed by the return match on Saturday, October 17, in Accra. The winner of the two-legged tie will secure a place in the 2026 BSAFCON.
