Tinubu meets Defence Minister Musa in Lagos over national security

LAGOS, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu convened a strategic meeting on Monday with Minister of Defence General Christopher Musa (retired) at the Presidential Residence in Lagos.
The meeting, as outlined in a statement from Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Defence, centered on the nation’s defense framework, ongoing counter-insurgency and anti-banditry operations, and strategies to enhance inter-agency security coordination.
The statement noted that the engagement aimed to review current defense policies and evaluate the progress of various security initiatives. President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the advancements made in securing vulnerable communities across Nigeria. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the Ministry of Defence.
During the meeting, General Musa provided a comprehensive briefing on current defense initiatives, logistical challenges faced by frontline operations, and proposed reforms that aim to improve troop morale, modernize military hardware, and strengthen military infrastructure nationwide.
General Musa thanked the President for his ongoing support of the country’s security apparatus and assured the public that the Ministry of Defence remains dedicated to fulfilling its responsibilities with integrity and resolve.
This meeting is part of ongoing security briefings and policy alignment sessions conducted by President Tinubu with key government officials to address national security and economic challenges effectively.
