‘Unfathomable delusion’ – Presidency hits Peter Obi over no evidence of winning 2023 election comment
Temitope Ajayi, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, criticized Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), describing him as being in a state of “unfathomable delusion.”
Ajayi’s remarks came in response to Obi’s continued assertion that he won the 2023 presidential election despite finishing third, according to official results from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Although Obi has maintained his claim over the years, he recently acknowledged that he lacks evidence to support this assertion.
In a recent interview with BBC Africa, Obi reiterated allegations of election rigging and affirmed his belief that he was the rightful winner of the election. However, Ajayi pointed out the contradictions in Obi’s statements. In a post on X, he wrote, “The unfathomable delusion that makes a man who came third in an election insist he won almost four years later certainly can’t be explained.”
Ajayi noted Obi’s admission of having no evidence to substantiate his claim, yet he continues to maintain his position on the outcome of the election.
