Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother breaks down in tears over Portugal walk-out

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, has expressed her emotional response following her son’s departure from the Portugal national team’s camp last week.

In her first public comments on the matter, Aveiro described her feelings of “shock” regarding the incident. Ronaldo’s exit came after he did not play during Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway in the UEFA Nations League.

The 41-year-old forward indicated that he left the camp due to a “breach of trust” with head coach Jorge Jesus.

“I feel sad, it’s normal. It was a shock. My son could have left through the main door; instead, he left through the small door, but it’s okay. God will take care of it,” Aveiro said in a statement to TV 7 Dias.

She added, “I cried a little. It’s good too, to let go. We have to turn this around.”
