Insurgents claim 176 abducted in Kwara, release video

Suspected Boko Haram Insurgents Release Video of Alleged Abductions in Kwara State
Suspected members of Boko Haram have released a video claiming to show a large group of women and children kidnapped from the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. The individuals in the video assert that 176 people are being held captive and accuse the Nigerian government of underreporting the number of those abducted.
The one-minute, 17-second video, published by Sahara Reporters, features dozens of women and children in an open area as an unidentified speaker interrogates them. The captives confirm they were taken from “Woro” in the Kaiama Local Government Area, located in Kwara State.
When asked how many individuals are present, two women in the video respond, “176.” The speaker then claims that the Federal Government has misled the public, stating, “Your infidel government lied to people that you are not more than 30.”
The video concludes shortly after this allegation. As of this report, neither the Federal Government nor the Kwara State Government has officially confirmed the video’s authenticity or the numbers mentioned by the insurgents. Security agencies have not issued a statement addressing these claims.
This development raises new concerns about security in Kwara State, which has not traditionally been viewed as a primary area of Boko Haram activity, especially in comparison to the North-East region of Nigeria.
