N2.3 trillion campaign claim: Fabricated letter exposed campaign of disinformation against Gov Sani – Kaduna govt

Kaduna State Government Denies Authenticity of Alleged Campaign Funding Letter
Kaduna State’s government has dismissed a letter purportedly from Governor Uba Sani, which claims he allocated N2.3 trillion for a presidential campaign event set for October 24, 2026, as a fabrication.
In a statement released by Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the government characterized the letter, dated October 18, 2026, as a product of imagination filled with inconsistencies that cast doubt on its legitimacy. The document was reportedly addressed to Senator Abdulazeez Yari, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
“The Kaduna State Government categorically disowns this document,” Maiyaki said. He emphasized that Governor Sani did not authorize or write the letter, and the claim regarding the budget for the campaign event is entirely false.
Maiyaki noted the Governor’s commitment to fiscal discipline and transparency since taking office on May 29, 2023. He highlighted the administration’s focus on managing public resources responsibly, prioritizing investments in security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and social protection.
The Commissioner expressed concern over what he described as a growing trend of misinformation aimed at undermining the Governor and his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections. He warned that fabricating official documents constitutes a criminal offense.
“Political competition must be conducted within the bounds of truth, decency, and the law,” he stated, adding that accountability should be pursued through credible evidence rather than fabricated documents.
Maiyaki announced that the government is taking steps to investigate the origins of the letter and called on security and investigative agencies to look into the matter. He urged the public and media outlets to be cautious when disseminating unverified information, particularly regarding public expenditures.
He reaffirmed that Governor Uba Sani remains dedicated to promoting peace, strengthening public institutions, accelerating infrastructure development, and enhancing the welfare of Kaduna citizens. Maiyaki reiterated the administration’s commitment to transparent governance and sustainable development.
