Odinkalu accuses El-Rufai of hypocrisy over alleged arrest plot

Human Rights Lawyer Claims Narrow Escape from Abduction
Human rights lawyer and activist Chidi Odinkalu has accused former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai of hypocrisy regarding his claims of adherence to due process, alleging that he narrowly escaped an abduction in the past.
Odinkalu conveyed his concerns in a post on X on Saturday, responding to what he characterized as El-Rufai’s recent public advocacy for due process. This statement follows El-Rufai’s own claims of an attempted arrest by security operatives upon his return from Cairo to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
In his post, Odinkalu expressed skepticism about El-Rufai’s current portrayal as a champion of legality, citing contrasting events from the former governor’s time in office. He recounted an incident involving a police officer who intervened when he discovered plans that could have led to Odinkalu’s abduction.
“Today, the #VileLittleMan, @elrufai, is an apostle of due process, spreading spittle from studio to studio,” Odinkalu wrote. He acknowledged the police officer’s actions, stating that this intervention likely saved him from a potential abduction orchestrated at the hands of El-Rufai.
