Nigerian Army Troops Foil Suspected Terrorist Ambush in Zamfara State
Nigerian Army troops successfully thwarted a suspected terrorist ambush along the Gusau–Sokoto Major Supply Route (MSR) in Zamfara State, officials confirmed.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported on X that the incident took place at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Troops from 1 Brigade were escorting personnel from Headquarters 38 Artillery Brigade when they came under attack near Mayanchi village in the Maru Local Government Area.
Makama noted that the soldiers engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat. Following the firefight, the troops searched the area and found a motorcycle believed to have been abandoned by the assailants.
The recovered motorcycle is currently in military custody for investigation and further action. Makama also indicated that the troops remain vigilant in their effort to secure the route and safeguard military personnel and civilians from potential terrorist threats.
