You are absolutely right, women MUST bring something to the table that is why women started feminism to fight for a right to go to school and get an education, fighting for a right to get jobs and be treated fairly in employment, women want to do business and have done some kind of business in the course of their lives starting from as young as when they were in primary school buying and selling biscuits, sweets etc. to their school friends and adding 5 kobo on top. Women do not just lie down and want to do nothing, history shows women have fought for every single right that they have today, it was not just given to them the way it was automatically given to men.
Nigerian men and Nigerian society controlled by men killed all this from happening, they prevented girls from getting an education and prefer to marry them off in young age, they prevent women from getting jobs, a woman cannot go for a job interview without a man wanting to have sex with her the list is endless.
I remember in the late 90’s when university boys were standing in front of their campus gates blocking politicians and business men from coming into their campuses and picking up uni girls and enticing them with money and gifts, corrupting them with all sorts of sexual activities. They were called Aristo then. When the politicians saw that uni boys were blocking them from entering universities and throwing them out of their dorms, what did they do?, they started recruiting and paying uni boys to get the girls for them, the uni boys will act as agent, get the girls and take their cut. Now the Aristos don’t have to leave their homes and hotel rooms to go get girls in campus anymore, their fellow gender is organising girls for them anywhere they are in Nigeria.
Fast forward 33 years later what did Nigerian men think would happen to their young women that they have corrupted with money and sex. The next generation who were too young to know what was going on in society and the ones that were not yet born but born into that society and that is all they know are all now complaining.
This matter is too long for me to go into the complete history of why somethings are happening now but Nigerian men are the major problems in their society and unless they face and address the monster they have created, blaming women will never solve their problems because we all know that developed countries who have invested in their women and who try to protect their women against ills in society are thriving because they have empowered their women to contribute to their societies and countries and are confident if there is another world war and men go out to fight war the women they leave behind will be able to take care of themselves and their children and defend and hold the country together in their absence.
