Xavi Hernandez Rules Out Lionel Messi’s Return to Barcelona
Ex-Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has confirmed that Lionel Messi will not return to the Spanish club. In an interview with La Vanguardia, Xavi stated that Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, does not support the idea of bringing Messi back to Camp Nou.
“Leo Messi is never coming back to Barcelona, because Laporta doesn’t want that,” Xavi said.
He further clarified that LaLiga did not prevent Messi’s return, nor did representatives from Messi’s camp request additional funding related to a potential transfer.
Messi, who left Barcelona as a free agent in August 2021 after contract negotiations failed, subsequently joined Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
