Turaki-led PDP heads to Supreme Court over Appeal Court ruling

PDP Appeals Court Ruling to Supreme Court

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Kabiru Turaki, has formally rejected a recent judgement by the Court of Appeal that invalidated the party’s national convention, which took place on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement, spokesperson for the Turaki faction, Ini Ememobong, announced that the party has instructed its legal team to challenge the ruling at the Supreme Court.

Ememobong expressed concerns that implementing the appellate court’s decision would create significant challenges for party members. “The operationalisation of this judgment will, without fail, impose untold hardship on our members,” he stated.

To mitigate these potential difficulties, Ememobong mentioned that the faction is consulting with key party organs while simultaneously preparing for the Supreme Court appeal. He conveyed optimism that the apex court would address the dispute expeditiously, underscoring its importance for the democratic process.

Ememobong also called for unity among party members, assuring them that the legal issues would be resolved in due course. He emphasized the need to protect the PDP from those he described as “masquerading as opposition leaders.”
