Turkey: Onuachu targets another record as Trabzonspor face Rizespor

Paul Onuachu Eyes Milestone Goal for Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor will host Caykur Rizespor at Papara Park on Saturday, as forward Paul Onuachu aims to become the club’s third highest-scoring foreign player. The Nigerian international has scored 39 goals in all competitions for Trabzonspor.

A single goal in the upcoming match would elevate Onuachu to second place in the club’s foreign scoring ranks, behind former Georgia international Shota Arveladze and compatriot Anthony Nwakaeme. Arveladze leads with 85 goals, while Nwakaeme amassed 51 during his tenure.

In addition to this achievement, Onuachu is also seeking to set the record for the most league goals scored by a foreign player for Trabzonspor in a single season. Arveladze’s record from the 1995-96 season, when he netted 25 goals, remains the benchmark. Alexander Sørloth came close in the 2019-20 season with 24 goals.

Onuachu has shown remarkable form, scoring in seven consecutive league matches and nine straight across all competitions.
