The Anti-Illegal Mining Task Force, under the direction of Superintendent of Police Jamu Emmanuel, has apprehended 20 individuals suspected of illegal mining in Taraba State. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to address unauthorized mining activities throughout the region.

The arrests occurred on Saturday following credible intelligence that indicated the suspects were traveling to an illegal mining site. Preliminary investigations reveal that the individuals are natives of Zamfara State, who allegedly traveled to Taraba to participate in illicit mining operations.

Superintendent Emmanuel confirmed the arrests and stated that the suspects remain in custody. They are expected to be transferred to the Taraba State police command for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Items recovered from the suspects are currently being documented as investigators continue their work.

Emmanuel reiterated the commitment of security forces to eliminate illegal mining in the state, warning that anyone found participating in such activities would face severe legal consequences.
