SABON BIRNI, Sokoto State – A member of the Sokoto Community Guards was killed and multiple individuals were abducted during a bandit attack on Sabon Birni town late Monday night.
The assault was confirmed by Hon. Aminu Boza, the local lawmaker in the Sokoto State House of Assembly. He reported that while individuals were taken, the precise number remains uncertain.
“I cannot provide an exact figure for those abducted as Sabon Birni is not a small community. Some residents may have fled to nearby bushes, while others may not have been present at the time of the attack. A thorough search is needed to determine the exact count,” Boza stated.
However, an anonymous resident indicated that approximately ten people were taken during the raid, marking the third such attack in recent weeks. “They used the same route as in previous incidents. One community guard was killed, and about ten individuals were abducted,” the resident said.
According to Boza, the attack occurred at Kantin Gabas, near the town’s Eid prayer ground. Local police are currently gathering further details on the incident.
