BBNaija no longer commands conversation like before  — Ubi Franklin

Ubi Franklin, a prominent music executive, stated that the reality show “Big Brother Naija” no longer generates the same level of public discourse as it once did, even though it continues to be a successful brand.

In a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Franklin compared the show to a major artist who remains popular yet has faded from the forefront of cultural conversations.

“Big Brother Naija reminds me of a massive artist who is still successful, still performing and still has fans, but no longer commands the conversation like before,” he wrote.

Franklin acknowledged that while the reality show is still a significant brand, it has diminished in cultural relevance over time.

“That’s where Big Brother is today. It’s still a big brand, but the cultural relevance isn’t what it used to be,” he added.

He emphasized the need for a strategic reevaluation of the show, suggesting that success alone is insufficient for maintaining relevance in the competitive entertainment landscape.

“Sometimes being successful isn’t enough—you have to go back to the drawing board, re-strategize, reposition, and find a way to become relevant again,” Franklin stated.
