TARABA, Nigeria — Rev. Andemun Musa, Chairman of the TEKAN/ECWA, has called on President Bola Tinubu to take immediate steps to address ongoing security challenges in Northern Nigeria, particularly the targeted attacks on Christians.

Rev. Musa made this appeal during the 2026 First Quarter Combined Service of TEKAN/ECWA on Sunday in Taraba State. He also emphasized the need for the government to intensify efforts to alleviate the economic difficulties faced by millions of Nigerians.

In his remarks, the cleric expressed appreciation for the security improvements in Taraba State under Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, commending policies that he believes have positively affected residents’ lives.

The service featured a sermon from guest speaker Bishop Ande I. Emmanuel of the United Methodist Church Nigeria, who oversees mission districts in Cameroon and Senegal. Bishop Emmanuel urged Christians to remain attentive to God’s guidance despite life’s challenges.

In a sermon titled “Be Still,” based on Psalm 46:10, Bishop Emmanuel encouraged believers to maintain their spiritual footing amid economic, political, and social pressures. He warned against the increasing divisions within the Christian community, noting that disregard for the Holy Spirit and biblical teachings could exacerbate existing issues.

“Unless we listen to the Holy Spirit and follow the direction of the Bible, a lot of things will continue to go wrong,” he stated.

The bishop further highlighted that denominational differences and internal conflicts can weaken the Christian faith, stressing that church affiliations and titles hold no eternal value. “Church denominations will not take anyone to heaven, neither are there positions in heaven,” he said, calling for unity and spiritual reflection among Christians.
