EFCC: ‘My company owns oil bloc, $50,000 recovered from my residence’ – Aisha Achimugu

Businesswoman Aisha Achimugu Defends Oil Bloc Acquisition Amid Ongoing Investigation
Businesswoman and socialite Aisha Achimugu stated that her company acquired an oil bloc through a legitimate and transparent bidding process conducted between 2022 and 2024. She made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on Monday.
Achimugu refuted claims that $13 million had been recovered from her residence, clarifying that only $50,000 and 13 million naira were seized during a raid on her home.
She explained that her firm participated in two bidding rounds: a deep offshore bid round from 2022 to 2023 and a mini bid round from 2023 to 2024. Achimugu emphasized that her company met all criteria and emerged successfully from the bidding processes.
Her comments come amid scrutiny from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which previously declared her wanted on allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering. The EFCC conducted a search of her residence, generating conflicting reports about the amount recovered during the investigation.
Achimugu expressed confidence in her company’s operations in the oil and gas sector, noting the capabilities of her team. “We went through that process, and by the grace of God, we won the process. Very transparently. It was a public process. It wasn’t selected,” she stated.
