Pep Guardiola Announces Departure from Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed today that he will step down from his position, citing a depletion of energy similar to that expressed by Jurgen Klopp when he left Liverpool in the summer of 2024.

In a statement to reporters, Guardiola reflected on his decade-long tenure, stating, “I share the same feeling as when Jurgen Klopp left. I am running out of energy.”

Guardiola emphasized the demands of managing a top-tier football club, noting, “I feel like I will not have the energy that is required for a game every three days, to fight for titles, being in front of the players every day.”

After ten years in the role, Guardiola acknowledged the toll of continuous competition, referencing iconic venues like Selhurst Park and Anfield. “This job is every three days for many, many years. Now I have to live my life,” he said.

He further indicated that the club might benefit from new leadership: “Ten years is a lot of time. I think the club needs a new manager, new energy. With these incredible players we have right now, it’s time to start writing another chapter.”
