Opta SuperComputer Predicts Arsenal Will Still Claim Premier League Title Despite Recent Defeats
Arsenal remains favored to win the Premier League title, according to the Opta SuperComputer, despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday. This loss marks the second consecutive defeat for the league leaders, following a similar loss at home to Bournemouth the previous weekend.
With this latest result, Manchester City has narrowed the gap to three points behind Arsenal. Prior to kickoff, the Opta SuperComputer assigned Arsenal an 85.2% probability of securing the championship, while Manchester City was given a 14.8% chance.
Following the match at the Etihad Stadium, Arsenal’s title-winning chances have decreased to 73.0%. Meanwhile, City’s prospects of finishing atop the league have increased to 27%. If City wins their upcoming match against Burnley on Wednesday, they could overtake Arsenal in the standings.
