Nigerian Army Colonel Killed in Abuja Attack
A serving officer of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Abdussalam Ude, was fatally shot during an attack on his residence in the Kurudu area of Abuja on Monday evening.
According to sources, the incident occurred shortly after Colonel Ude returned home from work. The attackers reportedly aimed to abduct either the officer or members of his household, leading to a violent confrontation.
Colonel Ude was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife, driver, and security guard sustained gunshot wounds. All three were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the motives behind the attack, and investigations are underway. Security agencies, along with military authorities, are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the assault.
Colonel Ude, a native of Enugu State, served in the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps and held various significant positions in intelligence and counter-terrorism. His military career included operations against insurgents in the North-East and international assignments in Chad and France.
Colleagues described him as a dedicated and highly professional officer. As of the latest updates, the Nigerian Army has not released an official statement regarding the incident, and investigations continue.
