Gunshots, panic as kidnappers invade Kubwa community

Residents Fearful After Kidnapping in Kuntun Bokun, Kubwa
KUBWA, Abuja — Fear has gripped the Kuntun Bokun area along the Paze axis following a recent kidnapping incident that left the community on high alert.
According to reports from DAILY POST, gunmen invaded the neighborhood on May 15, firing shots into the air to instill fear among residents before executing their attack. Eyewitnesses indicated that the ordeal began around 11:40 p.m. when gunfire echoed through the area.
Residents described the assailants as having spoken in Hausa while issuing threats to anyone found outside during the assault. One individual shared that initial thoughts led many to believe the gunfire was a routine patrol by local vigilantes.
“I thought it was the vigilantes shooting as usual, so I even texted some people immediately that this random shooting had to stop. Not long after, I heard somebody shouting that they had shot him,” the resident recounted.
During the attack, one man was reportedly abducted, while another individual suffered gunshot injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment. Residents noted that the attackers traversed the area on foot, without the use of motorcycles or vehicles.
The incident has heightened anxiety among community members, particularly in light of a previous kidnapping in the same vicinity reported in March.
In response to the recent violence, residents have observed increased security patrols in nearby Byazhin and surrounding areas.
Attempts to reach Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, for further comment were unsuccessful prior to press time.
