Insecurity: Tinubu’s govt failing – Igbo Community in Abuja

Igbo Community in Abuja Criticizes Tinubu Administration on Security Issues

The Igbo Community in Abuja has expressed growing concern over the security situation in Nigeria, claiming the government under President Bola Tinubu is failing to adequately protect its citizens.

In an official statement released by the community’s leadership, President Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe and Secretary General Chinwoke Emmanuel Onah highlighted alarming statistics, noting that “Nigerians are killed every day right under Tinubu’s watch.”

The statement urged the president to take decisive action, emphasizing that current measures are insufficient to address the rising tide of insecurity and economic challenges facing the country. “The era of playing politics with the lives of the masses must end,” the statement read, calling attention to the urgent need for improved governance.

The Igbo Community Association described Nigeria as facing an unprecedented crisis, warning that the nation is at a pivotal juncture where recovery may be difficult. “Mothers are burying their children, and kidnappers parade openly without fear,” the statement lamented.

The group also condemned the opposition parties, criticizing them for focusing on their interests while ignoring the broader issues affecting the nation. They expressed disbelief that, amid widespread power failures, poverty, and rampant violence, the primary concern of opposition figures appears to be the removal of Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman, Prof. Amupitan.

“The ICA FCT views this as a glaring act of hypocrisy,” the statement concluded, noting the contrast between the ongoing violence in various regions and the lack of protest from opposition parties regarding the killings. “This silence in the face of bloodshed, contrasted with their loud demands for electoral shifts, reveals a cynical ploy to gain power at the expense of a suffering populace.”
