‘It didn’t happen overnight’ – Atiku reacts to Arsenal’s emergence as EPL champions

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar Commends Arsenal’s Premier League Title Win
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has issued a statement praising Arsenal’s recent victory in the 2025/2026 English Premier League season. The team secured the championship on Tuesday following a draw between Manchester City and Bournemouth.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku attributed Arsenal’s success to a combination of patience, strategic planning, and long-term vision. He noted that the club’s investment in young talent and adherence to a coherent football philosophy mirrored the approach he advocates for Nigeria’s economic development as the nation approaches the 2027 general elections.
“Arsenal’s victory did not happen overnight,” Atiku stated. “My vision has always been to build an economy that works for all—driven by enterprise, strengthened by institutional reforms, and powered by the energy of our youth. Just as Arsenal invested in youth development and a clear football philosophy, Nigeria must invest in its people, reform its institutions, and stay committed to a coherent economic strategy.”
Atiku also encouraged Arsenal to seize the opportunity to conclude their successful season by targeting a victory against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final. “Having conquered England, I encourage Arsenal to set their sights firmly on the UEFA Champions League,” he added.
