JAMB UTME: Rivers Police Command beefs up security at CBT centers

Rivers State Police Enhance Security for JAMB UTME Examination

Port Harcourt—The Rivers State Police Command has implemented a comprehensive security plan for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Law enforcement personnel will be deployed to all accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers throughout the state.

In a statement released on Friday, Commissioner of Police Olugbenga A. Adepoju outlined the initiative as a proactive measure in accordance with directives from Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu. The objective is to ensure a secure and orderly environment for candidates, examination officials, and other stakeholders during the examination period.

The announcement, issued by Police Public Relations Officer Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, emphasized that officers involved in the operation are instructed to maintain professionalism, civility, and to take swift action against any form of examination malpractice, public disturbance, or security breaches.

Additionally, personnel will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure safety within the examination venues and surrounding areas, including access routes.

“The Command has also established enhanced patrols, intelligence-gathering efforts, and traffic control measures around examination centers to facilitate safe movement and mitigate any potential security threats before, during, and after the examination,” the statement read.

Adepoju urged candidates, parents, guardians, and the general public to cooperate with security agencies and adhere strictly to all examination regulations to ensure a smooth process.

The Command warned that anyone attempting to compromise the integrity of the examination would face severe legal repercussions. It reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while maintaining peace and security throughout the state.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the Command’s emergency lines: 07057605209, 07057605256, 08120822987, 07072323049, and Control Room: 08032003514.
