Kano State Council Seizes Counterfeit Goods Valued at Over N300 Million
KANO, Nigeria — The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) has reported the seizure of counterfeit and substandard goods worth more than N300 million during the past three months as part of its enforcement efforts across the state.
This information was disclosed in a statement by Jamilu Mustapha Yakasai, the agency’s Director of Public Enlightenment, on Friday.
During a recent staff meeting, Executive Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad highlighted the total value of the confiscated items and emphasized the need for increased dedication to the council’s objectives.
Dr. Muhammad reiterated the council’s commitment to combating the production, distribution, and sale of fake and substandard products, warning that offenders will face strict penalties.
He also instructed staff to enhance surveillance and gather intelligence to identify those involved in the trafficking of counterfeit goods, ensuring that all arrests are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
