Kebbi: Heavy rainfall damages roads in Dandi

Kebbi Governor Inspects Flood-Damaged Roads in Dandi Local Government Area
KEBBI, Nigeria — Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris inspected roads in the Dandi Local Government Area on Thursday that suffered significant damage due to heavy rainfall. Local residents have called for immediate action to restore access and prevent further deterioration of the infrastructure.
The roads affected include the Kingakwai–Fana–Dakingari Road and Fana Township Road, which serves as an essential connection between Fana town and surrounding communities.
During the inspection, Suleiman Fana, the representative for the area in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, along with Commissioner for Works Abdullahi Umar Faruk, briefed Governor Idris on the extent of the damage. Officials reported severe erosion and flooding, leading to disruptions in local transportation.
Commissioner Faruk emphasized the need for additional culverts and drainage structures to facilitate necessary repairs and minimize the risk of future damage.
Idris, accompanied by various government officials, examined the affected sites and assured residents that measures would be put in place to address the issues.
This inspection comes amid growing concerns regarding the impact of seasonal rainfall on road infrastructure throughout the state.
In a separate engagement, the governor visited Kamba town to express condolences to former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Samaila Abdulmumin Kamba, following the passing of his wife, Hajiya Fatima Abdulmumin. Hajiya Fatima, who was 65 at the time of her death, was buried according to Islamic rites and is survived by nine children.
