Leave pop scene for younger artists – Brymo tells Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido

Nigerian Singer Brymo Advocates for Younger Artists
Nigerian musician Brymo has urged his fellow artists to step back from the spotlight and allow younger performers to take center stage. In a recent interview with TVC, Brymo expressed concerns that established stars, including Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, are monopolizing the music industry through the so-called “Big 3” narrative.
Brymo emphasized that artists such as Rema should be leading conversations in contemporary pop music rather than their more seasoned counterparts. He criticized the industry’s tendency to focus on the perceived lyrical shortcomings of new artists while neglecting the influence older musicians exert over the industry.
“We need to stop discussing how the new artists lack lyrical substance and instead recognize how some established acts are attempting to dominate the scene with this ‘Big 3’ label, seeking to remain relevant indefinitely,” Brymo stated.
He further asserted that Rema should be regarded as the leading pop star in Nigeria today. “All this talk about Wizkid, 2Face, Olamide, and Burna Boy in the pop scene? Why? Their songs no longer resonate with the audience. It’s time for them to evolve and allow fresh talent to rise,” Brymo concluded.
