Married woman reported kidnapped found with lover in Delta hotel

Missing Woman Discovered in Delta State Following Reported Abduction
A woman identified as Oluchi, who had been reported missing and believed to have been kidnapped in Edo State, has been found in a hotel in Delta State. She was located alongside a man said to be her lover.
The discovery was made after family members and friends mobilized efforts to secure her release, following ransom demands that accompanied her disappearance. Relatives initially reported to the police that Oluchi had been abducted in the Ikpoba Hill area of the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area in Edo State.
As part of the investigation, her children, including a daughter residing in Canada, urged the public for financial assistance after the suspected abductors initially demanded a ransom of N50 million, which was later reduced to N20 million.
Police investigations traced a phone number associated with one of the suspects to a hotel in Ubiaroko, Delta State, leading to the eventual location of Oluchi. A source familiar with the case revealed that detectives approached the hotel and found both Oluchi and the man.
Following the discovery, Oluchi’s husband was notified of the situation. In a video shared widely on social media, her daughter, Anita, expressed shock at the circumstances that had unfolded and characterized the experience as devastating.
“My mum has been released. My mum is involved in this kidnapping case. I only did what I did to save my mom,” Anita stated.
Anita clarified that the family had cooperated with law enforcement throughout the ordeal and had not paid any ransom prior to her mother’s recovery. “We were called that my mum has been released. We didn’t pay the kidnappers. The money is intact. We are going to make a refund. We involved the Police from the beginning. We now know it was not a real kidnapping,” she said.
She further claimed that investigators informed the family of a possible connection between her mother and the man found with her. “They said my mom is involved. They are having a relationship. The guy was traced. They had agreed to take what we already raised to N20 million,” she asserted.
Anita noted the significant emotional distress the incident caused her family, stating, “This has shattered my family. My dad has some health issues. This is so unfortunate.”
Additionally, the Harmony Ladies Club, which Anita is part of, expressed disappointment following the investigation’s findings. In a statement shared on the group’s WhatsApp platform, members noted that they had provided emotional, financial, and logistical support when news of the alleged abduction initially surfaced.
“When news of her alleged abduction broke, the club acted swiftly in good faith. Out of sisterhood, love, and a sense of community responsibility, we rallied immediately,” the statement read.
The group expressed surprise at the developments disclosed during the investigation.
Confirming the situation, CSP Moses Yamu, spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, reported that four suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. “I can confirm the incident and also let you know that four people have also been arrested in connection with the incident,” he stated.
Authorities indicated that the investigation is ongoing to uncover the complete circumstances surrounding the case.
