Nigerian Army rescues five kidnap victims as terrorists flee Kogi forest

Nigerian Army Rescues Five Kidnapped Victims in Kogi State

The Nigerian Army has successfully rescued five individuals who were kidnapped in Kogi State. The victims were reportedly abandoned by their captors during a military operation aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts in the region.

This announcement was made on Wednesday by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 12 Brigade.

The rescue operation was part of intensified military offensives that included air strikes and ground assaults targeting terrorist camps situated in forested areas across Kogi State. Abdullahi attributed the victims’ release to sustained military pressure on criminal elements in the area.

Troops from the Forward Operating Base in Oshokoshoko were deployed along the Oshokoshoko-Adankolo route, engaging in a blocking mission following a recent airstrike against a known terrorist enclave.

During this operation, soldiers encountered the five victims, who had been left behind by their kidnappers as they fled from advancing military forces. Preliminary investigations suggest the kidnappers abandoned their captives in response to the heightened military activities, which forced them to disperse in an effort to evade capture.
