Kano Pillars Overcome Rivers United in Thrilling Finish

KANO, Nigeria — Former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa played a pivotal role as Kano Pillars secured a 2-1 victory over Rivers United at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.

Pillars took the lead in the 81st minute through Abdullahi Musa, but the visitors equalized just a minute from full time with a goal from Handsome Surveyor. In a dramatic turn, Ahmed Musa netted the winning goal for Pillars in the final moments of the match, elevating the team out of the relegation zone.

In Ikenne, Remo Stars also strengthened their position in the league with a 3-0 win against Niger Tornadoes. Striker Victor Mbaoma opened the scoring within the first 10 minutes, marking his 12th goal of the season. Olamilekan Adedayo and Samuel Anakwe each added a goal to solidify Remo Stars’ victory, lifting them to 16th in the standings.

Rangers, meanwhile, reclaimed the top position in the league after defeating rivals Enyimba 2-1 in Enugu. Enyimba’s Wonah Williams struck first, scoring shortly after halftime. However, Rangers responded with equalizers from Chidozie Iwundu and a winning goal from Ifeanyi Onyebuchi in the 68th minute.
