NPFL: Ogenyi vows Wikki Tourists will bounce back after relegation
Wikki Tourists’ technical adviser, Evans Ogenyi, is focused on the team’s prompt return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after their relegation to the Nigeria National League (NNL) following the recent season.
The Bauchi Elephants concluded their NPFL campaign with a 3-1 loss to Kun Khalifat FC in Owerri on Sunday, sealing their fate at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Ogenyi expressed regret over the team’s disappointing performance during the season and extended an apology to the club’s supporters.
“Big clubs experience relegation, but with resilience and determination, they can bounce back immediately. Wikki Tourists will do the same,” he stated in an interview with the club’s media team.
The team finished in last place, accumulating only 40 points in the season. Wikki Tourists were not alone in their relegation; Bayelsa United, El-Kanemi Warriors, and last season’s champions, Remo Stars, also faced a similar fate.
