Bauchi Police Recover Stolen Motorcycle, Arrest Suspect

Bauchi, Nigeria—Officers from the Bauchi State Police Command have apprehended a 28-year-old man and recovered a stolen motorcycle during a routine patrol in Bauchi metropolis.

According to a statement from the police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the suspect, identified as Hafiz Ahmad from Karofin Madaki, was stopped around 12 p.m. on July 4, 2026. Officers from the ‘E’ Division in Yelwa intercepted him while he was riding an unregistered black Jiacheng ladies’ motorcycle valued at 450,000 naira near Yelwan Kagadama.

Upon questioning, Ahmad reportedly admitted to stealing the motorcycle from Unguwar Kusu in the Yelwa area.

A subsequent investigation led authorities to the motorcycle’s rightful owner, a 23-year-old resident of the Federal Low-Cost Housing Estate, identified as Mr. Mohammed (surname withheld). The motorcycle was returned to him after he provided the necessary ownership documents.

Police confirmed that Ahmad will face legal proceedings following the completion of preliminary investigations.

Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu commended the responding officers for their diligence and swift action. He urged residents to maintain proper documentation of their vehicles and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
