Ogun State Police Arrest Suspect and Recover Stolen Motorcycles
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Abdulsalam Adam, in connection with the theft of two motorcycles from a residence in Akuro Phase I, located in the Ogere Remo area.
Authorities reported that Adam and a group of armed assailants invaded the home on Friday, stealing the motorcycles, along with mobile phones, cash, and other valuables before fleeing the scene.
Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the incident, noting that police operatives from the Ogere division, in collaboration with the State So-Safe Corps, local vigilantes, and community members, quickly responded to credible information regarding the robbery.
Through a coordinated tactical operation, law enforcement was able to force the suspects to abandon the stolen motorcycles and escape into nearby bushland. Subsequent efforts led to Adam’s arrest. During a search of the scene, authorities recovered a knife, an expended cartridge, and a broken padlock as evidence.
In a separate incident, operatives from the Ajuwon Division responded to a distress call about an armed robbery at Baale Akinosi Area, Ajuwon. The attackers reportedly stole mobile phones, jewelry, a laptop, a Toyota Camry, and other valuables. Upon sighting police, the suspects fled, abandoning the stolen vehicle.
One suspect, Israel Salako, was apprehended during the incident and is also assisting investigators. Ongoing efforts are being made to locate the remaining suspects and recover additional stolen property.
Babaseyi stated that both cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran for further investigation and potential prosecution.
Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni praised the professionalism and prompt response of the officers involved in the operations. He emphasized the commitment of the police to proactive, intelligence-led policing through sustained visibility patrols and community partnerships aimed at crime prevention.
