Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Stabbing in Borno State
Borno State police have detained an 18-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a young adult during a disagreement in Konduga Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on June 6 at approximately 3:00 p.m., local reports indicate. A heated argument escalated between two youths, leading to violence. The suspect, identified as Adam Ali Bukar from Galtimari Ward, is alleged to have stabbed 20-year-old Ba’umara from Duwanti Ward in the chest.
The Commander of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Konduga initially reported the incident to law enforcement. Officers, led by the Divisional Police Officer, responded swiftly to the scene, where they found the victim. Ba’umara was transported to the General Hospital in Konduga but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Following the incident, the victim’s body was released to his family for burial according to Islamic customs. The suspect was apprehended at the scene, and the knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered by police.
Authorities have transferred the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri for further inquiry.
