Senator Dickson appoints Steve Nwosu, others as aides

By Henry Umoru
Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and representative of Bayelsa West, has appointed Steve Nwosu, former editor of Sun Newspapers, as his spokesperson.
Additionally, Sani Takori and VinMartin Obiora Ilo have been appointed to significant roles within Dickson’s political and administrative team. The appointments take immediate effect and are intended to enhance operations and strategic communication around both Dickson and the NDC, which he helped establish.
Nwosu is a seasoned journalist and media administrator with over 30 years of experience across print, broadcasting, and online media. He is known for his satirical weekly column, FRANKTALK, and has held various editorial positions at notable publications, including THE GUARDIAN and THISDAY. Nwosu joined Sun Newspapers at its inception, initially as the editor of Saturday Sun and later advancing to editor of Daily Sun and deputy managing director.
A graduate of the University of Nigeria and the Lagos Business School, Nwosu is currently the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Edibofa Communication and Publishing Limited, which owns People’s FM and The Nigerian Xpress Newspaper. He has also played a significant role in the Nigerian Guild of Editors, serving as a member and later as treasurer.
Sani Takori, another new appointee, is a trained lawyer with a diverse public service background. His career includes roles such as Registrar and Magistrate in Sokoto State, Solicitor-General, and Attorney General of Zamfara State. Takori holds degrees from Ahmadu Bello University and the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies. He has been involved in the NDC since its registration, serving as its pro-tem national secretary, and was previously elected to the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007.
VinMartin Obiora Ilo, appointed as Chief Technical Adviser, brings nearly four decades of experience in broadcasting, public service, and strategic communications. He is an alumnus of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and holds advanced degrees in Mass Communications and Development Studies. Ilo began his career with Radio Nigeria, later working for Africa Independent Television (AIT), where he retired as Director of Special Duties.
These appointments are aimed at supporting Senator Dickson in his roles as both a National Leader of the NDC and a sitting Senator in the Federal Republic.
With these changes, the NDC positions itself as the leading opposition party in Nigeria and a rapidly growing political entity ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued by NDC National Publicity Secretary Osa Director, Dickson emphasized the professionalism and integrity that all three appointees bring to their new roles.
