Egypt Advances in FIFA Rankings, Overtakes Nigeria
The Egyptian national football team has surpassed Nigeria in the latest FIFA World Rankings, according to a report by DAILY POST.
Following impressive performances at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, coach Hossam Hassan’s team has moved up significantly in the rankings. Prior to the tournament, Nigeria’s Super Eagles were ranked third in Africa, trailing behind Morocco’s Atlas Lions and Senegal’s Teranga Lions.
As of the latest update, Egypt is now positioned 24th in the world and third in Africa, displacing Nigeria to fourth place. The Super Eagles maintain their spot at 26th in global rankings.
Algeria’s Desert Foxes round out the top five teams on the continent.
