Three injured as troops repel terrorist attack on Zamfara military base

Nigerian Troops Foil Terrorist Assault on Military Base in Zamfara

NIGERIA — Nigerian military forces successfully repelled an attack on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Moriki, located in the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, early Friday morning.

Reports indicate that the assault began around 1:00 a.m., with armed attackers approaching the base from multiple directions. Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared this information in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday night.

Troops of Combat Team 5 engaged in a fierce exchange of gunfire with the assailants, managing to hold their positions and ultimately drive the attackers away from the site.

Security sources, as noted by Makama, reported that three civilians were injured by stray bullets during the confrontation. These individuals were promptly evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical care.

In response to the incident, authorities have intensified security measures in the area to deter any further attacks. Security officials indicated that the situation has since been brought under control and that additional precautions are being implemented to safeguard the community.
