Tinubu’ll lose credible 2027 election before 4pm – Baba-Ahmed

The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, asserted on Wednesday that President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 general elections if they were conducted in a credible, free, and fair manner.
During an appearance on “Politics Today,” a program on Channels Television, Baba-Ahmed criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling it a “monster” that is damaging itself. Despite controlling the National Assembly and having 31 state governors, Baba-Ahmed claimed that President Tinubu feels increasingly uneasy as Nigeria continues to deteriorate under his leadership.
Baba-Ahmed pointed to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s recent victory in the Osun State governorship election as evidence that the APC is vulnerable to defeat. He noted that the competition among various political parties in that election did not require any coalition to overcome the APC.
“I witnessed Governor Ademola Adeleke, who has since been sworn in, speaking confidently. The APC was decisively defeated in Osun,” Baba-Ahmed said. “We have encountered claims of a deal between President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke, but we reject that notion. The ruling party, Accord Party, won against the APC comprehensively. This outcome can certainly be replicated at the national level.”
He added, “The APC is not functioning as a cohesive party; it is a monster consuming itself and its members. You have a president—likely the most powerful in Nigeria’s history—who seems to believe he must hold all the power. Although he may have the backing of 31 governors and approximately 75 percent of the National Assembly, his discomfort suggests a deeper political crisis.”
Baba-Ahmed emphasized the importance of a fair electoral process, stating, “If the elections are credible, free, and fair, I can assure you that Tinubu will lose—perhaps not before noon, but certainly before 4 p.m. We should not commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) until it conducts an election where the president is a contestant. I sincerely hope the elections will be conducted fairly; otherwise, Nigeria’s democracy may face serious risks.”
